Founded in 1927.

Mascot is the cougar named Shasta.

Every Friday, it is tradition to wear red to show school spirit.

From 1947 to 1989, five live cougars were the mascots to the University, each named Shasta. After Shasta the fifth’s death in 1989, students took up the tradition of wearing a costume to be the mascot.

Red and white are the school colors. The red stands for inner strength in facing the unknown. The white stands for the good that comes from helping fellow people
